On September 24, 2020 Guangzhou hosted a forum "Prospects and development of Sino-Ukrainian scientific and technical cooperation in the post-epidemic period", organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangzhou Government in cooperation with the Sino-Ukrainian Paton Welding Institute (located in Guangzhou).

Representatives of Guangdong Government, Guangzhou Government, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, China International Association for Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Sino-Ukrainian Paton Welding Institute, and the others participated at the forum.

Acting Director of the Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine I.Kryvtsun, Director of Sino-Ukrainian Paton Welding Institute V.Korzhyk also participated in the forum by video conference.

Embassy of Ukraine in China was represented by First Secretary S.Kuzmichov. Acting Consul General of Ukraine in Guangzhou D.Kamkov also took part at the event.

Participants of the forum discussed wide range of issues of cooperation and the possible potential for development of scientific and technical cooperation between the two States.

An agreement on Sino-Ukrainian joint laboratory for the joining of materials and advanced production was held as a part of the Belt and Road initiative was also signed at the end of the forum.
