On 24 August 2026, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence, friends and partners of Ukraine and the diplomatic mission visited the Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou. The guests included heads of several consulates general accredited in Guangzhou, representatives of Chinese enterprises and companies cooperating with Ukraine, as well as members of the Ukrainian community in South China and Hong Kong.

Consul General of Ukraine in Guangzhou Sergiy Kapuzo and Consul Serhii Chepurnyi spoke with each of the guests, thanked them for their warm congratulations, and presented them with traditional Ukrainian embroidered towels and sweets as souvenirs.

Later that evening, Ukrainian diplomats attended a festive event jointly organized by the Ukrainian community and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou. The celebration took place at Selo, a Ukrainian restaurant opened by Ukrainian citizens in Guangzhou in July 2026. More than 40 Ukrainian citizens and members of their families attended the event.
