As part of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou’s ongoing efforts to develop contacts with key Chinese enterprises capable of manufacturing electrical equipment needed by Ukraine, particularly ahead of the autumn and winter season, Ukrainian diplomats visited Hengyang, Hunan Province, on 7 September 2026. The city is home to the headquarters and production facilities of TBEA Southern Power Transmission and Distribution Industry Group (“TBEA Southern”).

TBEA Group is the world’s largest manufacturer of power transformers and related electrical equipment. In a number of product segments, TBEA Group successfully competes with such well-known European industry leaders as ABB and Siemens.

TBEA Southern’s production facilities manufacture all types of transformers in the voltage classes required by Ukraine: 750 kV, 330 kV, 220 kV, 110 kV, 35 kV and 10 kV. The company’s plants are equipped with modern, high-quality machinery and have dedicated testing laboratories for each type of transformer. The laboratories are certified in accordance with European standards.

During the visit, the Ukrainian diplomats also toured TBEA Zonfa Shanghai High Voltage Switchgear Co., Ltd., which manufactures gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) designed for the switching, distribution and control of electrical power.

Following talks between Consul General of Ukraine in Guangzhou Sergiy Kapuzo and the management of TBEA Southern, the Chinese manufacturer confirmed its readiness to fulfil orders for transformers and GIS equipment within the shortest possible timeframe. Given Ukraine’s potentially urgent need for such equipment, the company is prepared to prioritise Ukrainian orders and offer preferential pricing.

The company also agreed, if necessary, to provide Ukrainian specialists with free training in the supervised installation of TBEA equipment. TBEA already has experience supplying its products to Ukraine, including during the period from 2023 to 2026.
