On 23 June 2026, Serhiy Chepurnyy, Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou, attended a diplomatic reception organized by the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou on the occasion of Canada’s national holiday — Canada Day.

A distinctive feature of this year’s reception was its football theme, connected with the FIFA World Cup, one of the host countries of which is Canada. On this occasion, representatives of diplomatic missions of the countries of the Americas wore the uniforms of their national teams, which gave the event a relaxed, friendly and symbolic atmosphere.

During the event, Serhiy Chepurnyy congratulated the Consul General of Canada in Guangzhou on the holiday and wished Canada and the Canadian people peace, prosperity, stable development and further achievements. Special gratitude was expressed for Canada’s unwavering support for Ukraine, which it has consistently provided since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression.

During the reception, meetings and conversations were also held with heads and staff members of other diplomatic missions, as well as representatives of a provincial government of the PRC. The parties exchanged views on the current international situation, certain aspects of the political and economic development of the PRC, as well as further support for Ukraine by partner countries.
