Visit to Hainan Province

From January 29 to February 4, 2026, within the framework of the regional working visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the People’s Republic of China, Oleksandr Nechytailo, to Hainan Province, Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou Serhii Chepurnyi carried out a working trip to the province within the consular district in order to organize meetings and negotiations for the head of Ukraine’s diplomatic mission in China.

During the working visit, Ambassador of Ukraine to the PRC Oleksandr Nechytailo held a number of meetings with representatives of regional authorities, business circles, and the Ukrainian community. The Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou also participated in all meetings.

During the meeting with the Vice Mayor of Sanya, Ms. Yin Chenlin, the parties discussed cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, healthcare, tourism, as well as education and science. The sides confirmed their mutual interest in continuing dialogue and strengthening interaction.

Following the meeting between the Ambassador and the leadership of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, priorities for regional cooperation were discussed, including the Hainan Free Trade Port project, as well as prospects for interregional cooperation with Ukraine. Particular attention was also paid to the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the position of our state regarding the achievement of a just peace.

The Ambassador of Ukraine also familiarized himself with the capabilities of Haixin Port, which is one of the key elements of the province’s logistics infrastructure and the Hainan Free Trade Port project, and which offers preferential conditions for export-import operations.

During the meeting with the Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of Hainan Province, the Ukrainian side presented Ukraine’s economic and investment potential. Prospects for the development of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation in the fields of green energy, healthcare, and tourism were also considered. The parties discussed facilitating the participation of representatives of Ukrainian businesses in the China International Consumer Products Expo (April 13–18, 2026), which is among the five largest international exhibition events in China.

A separate part of the visit included meetings with Ukrainians living and working in Hainan. The Ambassador and Ukrainian citizens discussed everyday issues, consular support, interaction with local authorities, as well as joint cultural and humanitarian initiatives.

Consul Serhii Chepurnyi answered numerous questions from Ukrainian citizens regarding the provision of consular services and clarified certain aspects of Ukrainian and Chinese legislation related to the performance of consular actions.

The visit of Ambassador of Ukraine Oleksandr Nechytailo to Hainan Province confirmed the interest in developing practical cooperation and deepening Ukrainian-Chinese relations.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in Guangzhou pays particular attention to the development of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Hainan Province, as well as with other provinces within the consular district, in various fields, including trade and economic cooperation, investment, finance and banking, humanitarian affairs, culture, education, and others.
