14 April 2026 14:14

On April 14, 2026, Consul General of Ukraine in Guangzhou Serhii Kapuzo held a meeting with a delegation of the Guangdong Small Commodity Association (www.gdsxsp.cn), headed by its Executive Vice President, Mr. Zhong Qing. The Association’s leadership has long been friends and partners of the Consulate General.

During the meeting, Mr. Zhong Qing recalled that the Association was established in 2010 on the basis of the Department of Public Affairs of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province as a result of the reform of the PRC’s state administrative bodies. At present, the Association is subordinate to the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and has more than 10,000 members. Its membership includes companies operating in various sectors, including trade, transportation, manufacturing, construction, design and engineering, investment and finance, development, and industrial production.

On behalf of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the Association’s Secretariat coordinates and organizes investment, production, and logistics activities, including in the international sphere. At present, the Association has built and operates three major logistics centers in the PRC, located in Xi’an, Chongqing, and Chengdu, as well as three overseas centers in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia. The Association also has concrete plans to build similar logistics centers in various countries around the world and, to this end, has already opened offices in the United States, Indonesia, and the UAE. In addition, the Association operates its own cross-border rail freight route from Chengdu, PRC, to Europe. During the talks with the Ukrainian diplomats, Mr. Zhong Qing noted that the People’s Government of Guangdong Province has shown strong interest in the construction of a Chinese logistics center in Ukraine and has instructed the Secretariat of the Guangdong Small Commodity Association to work on this issue.

The Chinese representatives also stated that they are ready to form a delegation to visit Ukraine in order to study a broad range of issues related to the investment climate, security situation, and legal framework, as well as to hold talks with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and private business sector.

According to the Association’s Vice President, Chinese state-owned and commercial entities see strong potential in the future development of Ukraine’s construction and trade markets after the end of hostilities and are interested in securing their place in these promising areas. The Association has already received a number of proposals from its members regarding investment in projects for the construction of a logistics center and housing in Ukraine with the involvement of Chinese financial resources.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to jointly hold a business forum in Shenzhen at the end of April this year. The partners will invite Chinese companies that are planning to cooperate with Ukrainian companies or are considering operating in Ukraine. Several investment project proposals will also be presented during the forum.
